The Los Angeles Lakers are expected to make major moves in the offseason after failing to make the playoffs for the sixth consecutive year, despite the fact that they have added superstar LeBron James last summer.

One of the rumored moves that the Lakers will make is replacing current head coach Luke Walton, who has been on the hot seat all season long due to his inability to help the team be more competitive. The purple and gold reportedly have a list of candidates that they will go after once Walton is fired, and one of them is Doc Rivers, the current head coach of the Los Angeles Clippers.

Lakers controlling owner and team president Jeanie Buss addressed this rumor recently, saying that these speculations are completely not true.

“The headline … was completely not true. It’s crazy, There was nothing to that at all. How are you supposed to respond to that? I mean, should you respond to it?”

Rivers also denied these rumors, saying he's completely committed to the Clippers. The one-time champion coach is under contract with the team until 2021.

Buss also said that addressing the rumor would make those who spread it look credible, something that she does not want to happen. But at the same time, she said that not addressing it could result to it being magnified even more, and fans might continue to believe something that has no truth to it.

“If you respond to (a rumor) officially, you’re giving credibility to non-credible sources. Yet, by not responding to it, then it has a life and it gets into the psyche of fans.”

Jeanie has been supportive of Walton since he became the Lakers' head coach back in 2016. However, with the pressure to win as soon as possible, she might be forced to look for a better coach, someone who is capable of handling a polarizing figure like LeBron.

The Lakers also have interest in bringing in Tyronn Lue or Jason Kidd as Walton's replacement, while others believe they could go after Mark Jackson.
