Los Angeles Lakers guard Josh Hart left practice after suffering a left Achilles strain and will undergo an MRI, Ryan Ward of ClutchPoints reports.

Hart was selected 30th overall in this year’s draft by the Utah Jazz and was acquired by the Lakers along with Thomas Bryant for Tony Bradley. He 18.7 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 2.9 assists for Villanova in 2016-17 and was named the Big East Player of the Year.

After missing time during Summer League with an ankle sprain, Josh Hart played in just four of the team’s six preseason games due to continued ankle-related problems. He averaged six points and 2.75 rebounds in 15 minutes per game during the preseason.

While Josh Hart’s most recent injury setback is not ideal, he wasn’t likely to be a major rotation player right off the bat for the Lakers like fellow rookies Lonzo Ball and Kyle Kuzma.

Los Angeles has sufficient depth at the wing positions to cope if Josh Hart does miss the start of the regular season with his most recent injury. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope will eat up significant minutes as the team's starting shooting guard, while Jordan Clarkson is also used to big playing time off the bench if needed.
