Los Angeles Lakers forward Kyle Kuzma is focusing on one aspect of his game that can help him take the next step. The 6-foot-9 Utah Ute product has tons of upside on offense, but he needs to improve other areas of his game.
Kuzma's rookie season was a revelation for the Lakers, but the young swingman wants to get stronger this offseason, according to Mike Vorkunov of The Athletic. Vorkunov writes:
“He has spent this offseason tending to his body, working on getting stronger and building a better base for his 6-foot-9, 220-pound frame.”

This is a smart move from Kuzma. He's likely going to play a lot of power forward next season and will need to be strong inside when he's matched up with bigger, stronger players. There's no doubt that a focus on building a better base is the right move for Kuz.
The Lakers are looking to play a lot of small-ball lineups next season with LeBron James at center. Kuz will play the 4 and Brandon Ingram will play small forward. Lonzo Ball will man the backcourt with either Josh Hart, Lance Stephenson, or Rajon Rondo.
This small-ball lineup could be the Lakers' most dangerous weapon next season. LeBron is more than capable of playing center, but Kuzma's ability to play the 4 will make or break this lineup. Of course, Kuzma played a lot of power forward last season, but his defense certainly needs some work. Working on his body is a great way to improve defensively.
