Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James took a deep 3-pointer in the closing moments of the game against the Miami Heat to reach 51 points. As it turns out, it was a dare given by his teammate Lance Stephenson.

LeBron James and the Lakers defeated the Heat, 113-97. He finished with 51 points, eight rebounds, three assists, two steals, and a block. Stephenson, meanwhile, finished with four rebounds and a block.

The Lakers have gotten off to a slow start to the season but with the win against the Heat, their record now stands at 9-7. It seems like LeBron James and Lance Stephenson already have great chemistry at this early stage of the season.

The 3-point connection helped James notch the 12th 50-point game of his career. The King did the heavy-lifting in South Beach, as the second-leading scorer for the Lakers wound up being Kentavious Caldwell-Pope who had 19 points on the night.

As great as LeBron James' performance is against the Heat, this isn't sustainable. The Lakers won't have the luxury of an automatic higher seed so they'll need their best player to be in top form late this season. Los Angeles' second-best playmaker in Lonzo Ball, however, has to find his rhythm back. Since Rajon Rondo went down with a fractured hand, Ball has been underwhelming.

The team rests up for two days before they face LeBron James' old team in the Cleveland Cavaliers.
