There is no doubt about the talent of Lonzo Ball. Once he stepped into the pros, the vision that he possessed in college was well intact. His jump shot, too, which many believe he should've fixed, remained there. Despite criticisms, Ball doesn't plan to alter or modify his shot over the summer.

As reported by Bill Oram of The Orange County Register, Ball plans to do more reps this summer. He did not mention anything about altering his shot:

Ball played a total of 52 games in his rookie season. He averaged 10.2 points, 7.2 assists, and 6.9 rebounds per contest.

However, he shot at just 36 percent from the field and 30.5 percent from downtown. To put more in perspective, in his one year at UCLA, he shot an impressive 55.1 percent from the field and 41.2 percent from beyond the arc.

Of course, there is a big difference between college ball and the NBA. But the significant drop in field goal percentages possesses great significance.

Lonzo himself admitted to such struggles earlier on. In an interview on ESPN LA’s Mason and Ireland Show, Lonzo said:

“I’m just missing shots. I definitely like the looks I’m getting. Most of them are wide open. People are going under screens. I feel like they’re going to fall. Just have to keep shooting and shooting confidence.”

Despite this, Ball went on with his old shooting form despite attracting criticisms from retired players — some of which have perfected the art of shooting. Lonzo may feel comfortable with the shot, but according to them, he needs to shoot in an orthodox way to hit it consistently. Hopefully, Lonzo heeds their advice when he trains during the summer.
