While many have thought that Thomas’ addition could mean less playing time and slow down Ball’s development, it could also be something positive for him. Being a veteran in the league and a two-time All-Star, the 5-foot-9 point guard can share his experiences and knowledge to him, and prepare him to have better performances in the years to come, as the Lakers will rely heavily on him to help bring back their lost glory.

Rubbing off his work ethic and mindset will also work wonders for Ball, knowing that there are high expectations on his young shoulders. If the two can prove that they can play well alongside each other as well, the Lakers could reap the rewards of pulling the trigger on the move that landed Thomas with them ahead of the trade deadline earlier this month, and further speed up their rebuilding process.
