From the aesthetics to the result, Lonzo Ball’s shooting form has been constantly disparaged by detractors, as the Los Angeles Lakers rookie point guard is making just 29.9 percent of his shots from the field. His form from deep is worse, as he is shooting just 23.4 percent from the 3-point region.

Notwithstanding his broken jumper, Ball still manages to contribute well in other areas for the Lakers, but perhaps none more impressively on the defensive side of the court. To highlight Ball’s value on defense, Cranjis McBasketball turned to math and came up with this:

Lonzo Ball could be a pretty effective on-ball defender as what the date suggests which is also reflected by his average of 1.3 steals per game. In addition, the Lakers youngster is tops on the team with 0.5 defensive win shares so far this season

While Ball continues to get his shot right and become more of an offensive threat, it’s good to know for Lakers fans that he’s been doing well in other departments if that wasn’t obvious enough by the former UCLA Bruin’s numbers of 6.9 assists and 6.4 rebounds per game.
