Jones was selected as the 18th overall pick of the Santa Cruz Warriors last year. He was then traded to the South Bay Lakers in October. In 47 games for South Bay, the 23-year-old forward averaged 9.4 points and 9.6 rebounds per game to go along with 3.5 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.0 block per game.

The Lakers were viewed as a potential playoff team this season after acquiring LeBron James in the summer of 2018. Aside from James, the Purple and Gold made bold roster moves by adding veterans like Rajon Rondo and JaVale McGee. However, their offseason acquisitions were not enough to end their five-year playoff drought.
Los Angeles recently announced that they are already shutting down James for the remainder of the 2018-19 NBA campaign. The Lakers are expected to make roster changes, and possibly coaching changes in the offseason. They will have enough cap room to add another superstar to their roster this summer.
