One of the main concerns for the Los Angeles Lakers heading into training camp was the health of second-year point guard Lonzo Ball. Although it seemed as though he'd be ready to go for camp and preseason, Ball has been limited as he recovers from offseason knee surgery.
However, Ball was cleared this week and has been participating fully in practices with head coach Luke Walton blown away by his progress after so much time away from the court. Following Friday's practice at the team's facility in El Segundo, Walton provided an update on how the UCLA product has looked on the floor as of late.
“He looked great,” Walton said of his young point guard. “I was shocked how good he looked the last two days as far as his feel for the game and being out there and competing. He hasn't played any basketball since last season, so it was pretty impressive that much time off against guys who have been working all summer in camp already. You couldn't really notice a difference between him and the other guys, so I was very impressed and pleased to see that.”

Ball is expected to miss the team's first preseason game against the Denver Nuggets on Sunday. The Lakers will play a total of six preseason games leading up to the team's season opener on Oct. 18 against the Portland Trail Blazers.
