Much has been made about the administration of the COVID-19 vaccine. It's been a truly polarizing issue throughout the nation, and the same has been the case for NBA teams. As it turns out, players from the Los Angeles Lakers have had their own concerns regarding the vaccine, as revealed by none other than Magic Johnson.

According to the Lakers legend, there have been some players who've met the vaccination process with a bit of hesitation. Nevertheless, there has been a general consensus that the team will get it done:

“They had discussions with the players. I think they had decided —  most of them — to take it and to get vaccinated,” Johnson told Mark Medina of USA TODAY Sports on Wednesday. “They just have to find out when. At that time, they had not done that. So I don’t know when they’re going to do it. But I think once a leader like a team in the Lakers and a leader like LeBron step up, guys will feel more comfortable. But it’s all about getting the information.”

Unsurprisingly, the Lakers players themselves have concerns about the uncertainty surrounding the vaccine. They're taking a wait-and-see approach, and apparently, the fact that Magic Johnson already had his shot administered has had an impact on the players' willingness to follow suit:

“Rob told me a lot of guys, that when I got mine, they felt a little bit better,” Johnson said. “That’s what happens. Guys want to see other guys [get it], and see if it works. They follow that, hopefully.”

At the end of the day, the administration of the vaccine is a human rights issue. Simply put, players have the right to refuse the vaccine. What type of impact this decision will have on the Lakers as a whole remains to be seen.
