Los Angeles Lakers veteran point guard Rajon Rondo won't be fined for sitting away from his teammates during the closing moments of Wednesday's home loss to the Denver Nuggets, according to Dave McMenamin of ESPN.
Rondo met with Lakers president of basketball operations Magic Johnson and general manager Rob Pelinka on Thursday. Johnson and Pelinka told Rondo it's against league rules to sit where he was sitting.

“They notified me that it was a league rule that you can't sit there,” Rondo told ESPN. “I wasn't aware of it. But now I know going forward where I need to be.”
The Lakers are 30-35 on the season, 11th place in the Western Conference standings. Los Angeles isn't going to make the postseason in the first season of the LeBron James era.
In 31 games this season for the Lakers, Rondo is averaging 9.0 points, 5.2 rebounds and 7.6 assists per contest. The four-time All-Star is shooting 41.7 percent from the field, 36.4 percent from beyond the arc and 62.5 percent from the free-throw line.
Rondo signed a one-year, $9 million deal with Los Angeles last summer. He's an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
