Los Angeles Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka has just added more proof that Lakers legend Kobe Bryant has been keeping busy in his retirement. Business investments, a new podcast, and film production are just a few things that have been keeping Bryant preoccupied two years after hanging his sneakers.

However, as it turns out, Kobe has also been sidelining as a coach on Pelinka's daughter's basketball team.

In a recent press conference, Pelinka shared how Bryant has been trying to instill the Mamba Mentality on his daughter's team. Lakers head coach Luke Walton chimed in and asked a very important question about the impact Kobe has had on these very young girls.

Pelinka and Bryant go way back. The former was Kobe's long-time agent prior to his retirement in 2016. In fact, these two have formed a bond that extend well beyond their professional relationship.

Kobe once spoke about his relationship with Pelinka on The Rich Eisen Show.

“Look, Rob and I have been friends forever,” he said. “He’s Godfather to (Bryant’s daughter) Gianna, and so we’ll talk. Sometimes I’ll call just to check on him and see how he’s doing. Because when I played during the season, he’d have to pick up for me, with my family.”

With Pelinka taking the reigns as the Lakers' general manager, it is now Bryant who is trying to help with his good friend's family duties.

“I’d miss Halloween, Christmas, so he’d go out with my family and stuff when he was my agent, so now it’s just kind of reversed,” explained Kobe. “So when he’s on the road, I’ll spend time with his family and take them out trick-or-treating and all that good stuff.”

With such a close relationship, it would not be surprising if Pelinka is someday able to convince Bryant to join him in the front office. Hopefully for Lakers supporters, this comes sooner rather than later.
