The Los Angeles Lakers will reportedly pursue any 3-point shooter on an expiring deal as the trade deadline approaches, according to Bill Oram of The Atheltic.

The Lakers want to improve their perimeter shooting for this season, but also want to keep their salary cap low so they can pursue max free agents during the summer.

A team source said the Lakers will pursue any 3-point shooter on an expiring deal, a group expected to include former Laker Wayne Ellington, Orlando’s Terrence Ross, Memphis’ Garrett Temple and Trevor Ariza, who many believe could be on the move again before the deadline if Washington continues to falter in the East.

As a team, the Lakers shoot 33.4 percent from beyond the 3-point line. That's 28th in the NBA. Rajon Rondo leads the club in 3-point percentage at 39.4 percent. Anytime Rondo is your best 3-point shooter, that's not a good sign.

Wayne Ellington, who plays for the Miami Heat, is reportedly upset about the lack of playing time he's receiving with the Heat. Ellington's agent recently approached the Heat's front office to discuss Ellington's future with the club. The 31-year-old is shooting 37.1 percent from beyond the arc this season and would help the Lakers a ton.

Orlando Magic swingman Terrence Ross would be a solid pickup for Los Angeles as well. The high-flyer is a player who can create his own shot off the dribble and stretch the floor with his outside shooting. Ross is shooting 37.5 percent from distance this season.
