Superstar LeBron James made his decision to join the Los Angeles Lakers a couple of summers ago, and it turned out to be the right one. The Lakers won the NBA title in October 2020 over the Miami Heat as James got another championship ring to add to his already impressive resume.
However, it turns out that LeBron apparently had different initial plans, but his wife was the one who wanted him to join the purple and gold. Lisa Robinson of Vanity Fair joined Brian Windhorst's podcast and gave the news that they almost made the trip to the East Coast.
Article Continues Below“…He was thinking about coming to New York but that his wife wanted to be in Los Angeles, wanted the kids to go to school in Los Angeles, and that just kiboshed the whole thing,” Robinson said, via Dan Feldman of NBC Sports.
Can you imagine if James did end up signing with the New York Knicks? Bad news for Knicks fans, however, as LeBron dashed to the Lakers.
So, given his wife wanted them to move to LA, maybe she should end up getting the ultimate praise from Lakers Nation. After all, LeBron did play a major part in the blockbuster trade for Anthony Davis as the Lakers won their first title in the post-Kobe Bryant era.
LeBron James playing in Madison Square Garden for half the NBA season would have been a joy to see. However, the dreams were crushed, and now at least Knicks fans have a playoff team that is gearing up for a playoff run.
