On the second day of free agency, the Los Angeles Lakers and Kawhi Leonard have yet to reach a deal. Lakers fans are nervous as to what will happen to their team if they don't lure him in. But the Lakers organization itself is not ‘nervous' about the whole situation.

Speaking on The Herd with Colin Cowherd, Arash Markazi of the Los Angeles Times gave an inside scoop of the Lakers' mindset for the past few days. From the looks of it, the purple and gold are prioritizing Kawhi Leonard and are going all out. Though some people believe they have no chance, the organization believes otherwise. As transcribed by Wil Leitner of AM570 LA Sports:

“They’re not nervous right now. They are not as nervous as you would think they would be with all these names they could potentially sign if they don’t get Kawhi coming off the board. They are 100% all in on Kawhi. It doesn’t mean that they know they’re going to get him, but they didn’t create this cap space for a hail mary. They were cautiously optimistic and don’t view themselves as a dark horse pick. They think they have a real chance.”

Since the Lakers are prioritizing Kawhi Leonard and are willing to wait for him, the downside is that valuable free agent role players will likely be off the board once they reach a deal. Shooters like JJ Redick and Seth Curry were seen as great complementary pieces to LeBron James and Anthony Davis. But they've been acquired by the New Orleans Pelicans and the Dallas Mavericks, respectively.

Danny Green — another valuable role player with significant experience — is still available as of writing. But who knows what will happen in the coming days? As such, the next few hours and days should be something to watch. Will the Lakers lure Leonard? Or will they be forced to scramble and pick up leftovers in the free agency market to fill out their roster?
