The Los Angeles Lakers are exerting tons of effort to acquire the New Orleans Pelicans' Anthony Davis, who publicly requested for a trade a few days ago. The Lakers reportedly gave the Pelicans five trade scenarios, with the main one being the package of Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, Brandon Ingram, Ivica Zubac, and a first round pick.
While this, or any other offer the Lakers have on the table is not equal to Davis' value, the Pelicans are trying to get the best deal possible, and according to Tania Ganguli and Broderick Turner of the Los Angeles Times, New Orleans would like the Lakers to add more assets in order for them to consider their trade request.

The Pelicans are obviously planning a full rebuild once Davis is traded. They reportedly put Julius Randle, Nikola Mirotic, and E'Twaun Moore on the trading block with the hopes of getting first round picks as well.
It's still unclear how the Lakers would respond to the Pelicans' counter offer, but if they're really dead serious in their pursuit of Davis, they should highly consider giving the Pelicans more picks, rather than lose AD to another team that will be willing to do what New Orleans is asking.
It is now or never for the Lakers.
