The first days of free agency came storming through with massive blockbuster deals and plenty of players on the move to new homes. Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and DeAndre Jordan agreed to join forces in Brooklyn. Jimmy Butler agreed to sign with the Miami Heat. Kemba Walker took his talents to Boston. However, reigning Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard, perhaps the biggest fish in the pond, has yet to make his decision.
The entire NBA is anxiously waiting on where Leonard will go next. But that may not come all that soon, according to Cris Carter of FS1.
Carter claimed on “First Things First” that Leonard may make his decision after July 4:
"Kawhi just started the process, basically yesterday morning. It's going to be a process that I believe will take us until after the 4th of July." — @criscarter80 reports pic.twitter.com/vYskYKh0kQ

Leonard is surely taking his precious time in making his decision, and he should be in no hurry to do so. He's making a huge decision and should take all the time he wants.
Three teams have emerged as favorites in the Kawhi sweepstakes. The Los Angeles Lakers have a strong case to add Leonard to their incumbent superstar pairing of LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Leonard's arrival would form arguably the greatest trio ever and would make them the favorite to win the 2020 NBA championship.
The Los Angeles Clippers, his other hometown squad, are also confident that they can bring in Leonard. They are coming off a successful 2018-19 campaign despite being devoid of a true superstar. Leonard would easily slot in as the team's alpha dog.
Then, of course, there are the defending NBA champion Toronto Raptors. The Raptors have the luxury of having the last word with the best two-way superstar in the game. Obviously, their championship victory with Leonard leading the way is their best pitch to their Finals MVP.
Kawhi Leonard's choice obviously has franchise-altering implications. These three teams will have to stay patient as the two-time NBA champion mulls on his decision.
