The Los Angeles Lakers are still searching for coaches to round out the rest of their staff for the 2019-20 season. The team targeted former Golden State Warriors coach Ron Adams, but he declined the offer, per ESPN:

“Ron Adams has turned down an assistant-coaching job with the Los Angeles Lakers and will remain in a revised role on the Golden State Warriors coaching staff.”

Adams has worked in a coaching role since 1969. He has worked for eight different franchises in the NBA, as well as five different colleges. With the Warriors, he has won three championships. Steve Kerr has mentioned that Adams is one of his most trusted head coaches.

It's interesting that Adams turned down the Lakers offer. The Lakers are expected by many to contend for a title this season, while the Warriors are unlikely to make a serious run at their fourth championship in six years.

Perhaps Adams is more comfortable simply staying with the franchise that he has enjoyed so much success with. Maybe the Lakers front office drama has turned him off for working for them. Or maybe he just loves living in San Francisco.

Whatever the reasons are, the Lakers will continue their search for a third assistant coach alongside Jason Kidd and Lionel Hollins, while Adams attempts to work some magic in Golden State.
