LeBron James’ move to the Los Angeles Lakers has plenty of implications to the dynamics of the NBA, among which is the fact that the next NBA Finals is not going to feature a series involving the four-time MVP and the Golden State Warriors for the first time since 2015.

However, that certain change in the NBA Finals’ narrative also means that James will see more of the Warriors in the regular season, now that James has taken his talent to the Western Conference.

For Warriors guard Stephen Curry, facing James and the new-look Lakers squad adds more flavor to the Pacific division and heightens the drama of an oft-overlooked divisional rivalry, per Janie McCauley of The Associated Press.

After four straight NBA Finals against James and the Cleveland Cavaliers, two-time defending champion Golden State will get four matchups against James during the regular season.

“And a whole new-look Laker team with some of the young kids. It should be fun, the Bay Area and L.A. and the whole thing,” Curry said Monday in a sit-down with The Associated Press while hosting his annual elite camp at Ultimate Fieldhouse. “When I first got into the league Oracle would be buzzing any time the Lakers came in. There probably will be a revolution of Laker fans that are going to try to creep in but I hope Bay Area and Dub Nation we keep control of that competition because we’re on top right now.”

The Lakers and Warriors aren’t only in the same conference, they are also bunched together in the same division. So, while James’ departure from Cleveland essentially ends the streak of his annual June meeting with Golden State, he’s now closer to the familiar foe that has caused his ruin in each of the last two seasons.
