Aside from being a deadly offensive weapon for the Dallas Mavericks, power forward Dirk Nowitzki is also known for being an all-around good guy. You’d be hard-pressed to find someone who has negative things to say about the 19-year NBA veteran. And if you need any more reason to love Nowitzki, all you have to do is see where he spent his Christmas.
According to Brad Townsend of SportsDay, the sweet-shooting big man spent part of his Christmas by bringing smiles to sick kids at Children's Medical Center in Dallas. It’s the same place where he celebrated Christmas last year, so clearly, this isn’t the first time Dirk Nowitzki’s time mingling with children at the hospital.

Article Continues BelowLast December, Uncle Dirk, as he's come to be known at Children's Health, graciously allowed me to shadow him during his visit. The idea was to shine a light on the brave kids, their families and the miracle workers at Children's Health by sharing a story that never had been told.
We all have to give Nowitzki plenty of credit for this one. The Mavs are not having a good season. In fact, they’re on pace to finish the 2017-18 campaign with one of the franchises’ worst records of all-time, but Nowitzki isn’t using that as a reason to skip on his Santa Claus duties.
Nowitzki said he individually visited and gave gifts to 17 kids this year. There were, as usual, heartbreaking moments. He saw struggling parents. One father told Nowitzki that his 2-year-old son already has had several heart surgeries.
What ails the Mavs this season is nothing compared to the daily challenges some of the kids at the hospital are going through, however, and if having a seven-foot Santa Claus around would cheer them up, Dirk Nowitzki certainly have no problem playing that role.
