Monday night was a memorable one for Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki as he became just the fifth player in NBA history to reach 50,000 minutes played in his career. He surpassed Elvin Hayes on the all-time list and his latest feat further strengthens his case as the most successful international player in league history. However, it was also unforgettable because his last name was misspelled at the back of his jersey, which a lot of fans noticed during the game.
To make up for his mistake, the Mavs' equipment manager and the German international's good friend, Al Whitley, took to his Twitter account to announce that he will be auctioning off the jersey. The proceeds from its sale will be for a good cause as it will benefit Nowitzki's charity.

Whitley does make a very valid claim as it is indeed a rare jersey and whoever will win the auction will get to own a piece of NBA history, as it was worn by Nowitzki on the night he reached another milestone in his already illustrious career. Now in his 20th year in the NBA, the 39-year-old has won almost all awards the league has to offer and has not missed half of any season he's played in, which is a testament to how much he has taken care of his body. He is still going strong as a pro and is not showing signs of slowing down anytime soon despite his advanced age which will only make the jersey even more valuable to its future owner.
