Steve Kerr and his Golden State Warriors were given all they could handle by the Dirk Nowitzki-led Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday night. It was the Warriors’ third of four meetings with the Mavs this season, and their last on Feb. 8 could also be their last ever with Nowitzki, who could potentially retire at the end of the season.
With that being the case, Kerr says he’s making the most out of his last encounters with Nowitzki, who he calls an “absolute treasure,” per the San Francisco Chronicle's Connor Letourneau.

Nowitzki, 40, is now in his 20th NBA season and is still going strong. After a rough start to the year, he and the Mavs have bounced back well. Nowitzki averaged 13.7 points on 48 percent shooting in December, and the Mavs had won their final four games of the month before losing to the Warriors.
Nowitzki will surely go down as one of the all-time greats. He revolutionized the big man position with his uncanny shooting and was a trailblazer for European stars in the NBA in the 21st century. He is well and truly a treasure and will be sorely missed by Kerr and so many others around the league whenever he finally does decide to hang up his sneakers.
