The Memphis Grizzlies finally got back on track after getting a much needed victory against the Indiana Pacers on Saturday night. The narrow 106-103 win ended an 8-game losing skid and helped ease some of the troubles surrounding the team after struggling throughout December and the new year.
Grizzlies starting point guard Mike Conley seemed to have missed the feeling of winning over that stretch:
Conley led the Grizzlies with 22 points, four rebounds, and 11 assists, while fellow veteran and Memphis lifer Marc Gasol added 18 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Rookie stud Jaren Jackson Jr. continued his impressive debut campaign and notched 20 points and six rebounds. Overall, it was a team effort from Memphis, which desperately needed a win to stop the bleeding.
As mentioned, the Grizzlies' struggles over the past two months have sent them near the bottom of the West standings (14th). With this looking like another lost season for Memphis, many are speculating whether they will eventually pull the trigger on trading their aging star tandem of Marc Gasol and Mike Conley to begin the rebuild.
With his statement above, it seems like Conley is yearning to be on a winning situation, and Memphis just won't cut it anymore. It seems more likely that the two will agree to part ways at some point in the near future.
