When the Miami Heat square off with the Boston Celtics on Monday night, there's a chance they'll be doing so without the help of forward Derrick Jones Jr.

Jones has been listed as questionable for the game, with the team citing personal reasons for potentially missing the important game.

Personal reasons could mean a lot of things. Hopefully, it's nothing to serious for Derrick Jones Jr.

Either way, not having Jones for this game against the Boston Celtics could sting. The Miami Heat are currently eighth in the Eastern Conference with a 38-38 record. That puts them just half a game ahead of the Orlando Magic for that final playoff spot.

At the same time, the Heat are 0.5 games behind the Brooklyn Nets for seventh place, and one game below the Detroit Pistons for sixth.

With all that in mind, a lot could change in these last eight games for the Miami Heat. They could move up to sixth place without much work, or drop from the playoffs entirely in the blink of an eye.

Due to that, every game for the rest of the year is under a microscope. Everything seems to mean that much more this time of the year. Jones Jr. being out against the currently fourth-placed Celtics doesn't spell out a positive message.

Jones isn't the star of the Heat. However, averaging 7.2 points and 4.1 rebounds per game, he's definitely a solid contributor. Jones also gives Miami flexibility, as he can cover multiple positions defensively.

If he doesn't play, the Heat will definitely need to lean on someone like James Johnson to pick up the slack.

Normally this would hurt but wouldn't be seen as too much of a loss. However, with the importance of this next matchup, the Miami Heat could use all the help they can get.

Here's to hoping the personal reasons aren't anything too bad though, and that Jones can get back to the court as soon as possible.
