Dion Waiters and the Miami Heat lost their season opener to the Orlando Magic, 116-109, Wednesday night. It was a rougher night for Waiters, as he tweaked his ankle three times according to the guard, Manny Navarro of the Miami Herald reported.
Dion Waiters said he went all preseason without tweaking his left ankle. Did it three times tonight. Said he will press on: "Mind over matter." Will not have an x-ray on the ankle he said.

Foregoing a free, harmless, and basic procedure such an X-ray isn’t exactly the smartest way for Waiters to go about his ailing limb, but anyone who’s followed the career of the two-guard likely wouldn’t be surprised at this kind of stubbornness.

Dion Waiters has a constant thirst for playing time, always eager to get on the floor and showcase the boundless basketball skills he believes he has, which is evidenced by his decision to play through a hurting ankle.
The Heat will have a two-day rest before playing their second game of the season on Saturday against the Indiana Pacers for Miami’s home-opener. Hopefully for Waiters, that would be enough for his ankle to heal.
Dion Waiters had 15 points on 5-for-7 shooting from the field across 35 minutes of action in the Magic game.
