Entering Wednesday, Erik Spoelstra has a coaching record of 506-343 with the Heat during the regular season. The 48-year-old has won two championships and is the franchise leader in wins.
Spoelstra has been with the Heat since 1995. He was a video coordinator for two years before Pat Riley made him an assistant coach.

Speaking to reporters after Wednesday's shootaround, Erik Spoelstra spoke about a conversation he had with his father when he was appointed as the head coach of the Heat.
“Looking back on that now, my dad obviously had been fired from a couple different places, he knew the real NBA and the reality of that is usually it’s a three or four-year run, and he was saying it almost as such an exaggeration that, Hey, this literally could been an eight-to-10-year run,” Spoelstra said, via David Wilson of the Miami Herald. “You can’t get that in pro sports.
“It doesn’t matter what your position is, it doesn’t matter if you ever get promoted, just find a way to hang with this guy, this Hall of Famer, so I guess the lesson to that is I’m still just trying to hang on, I’m trying to work for him for as long as I possibly can.”
The Heat are 22-23 on the season, good for seventh place in the Eastern Conference standings. They are coming off a 107-99 loss to the Celtics in Boston.
