Right after the Heat ended the Sixers' season on Thursday night, Jimmy Butler dropped a truth bomb about wishing he was still teammates with Joel Embiid. Naturally, we all gravitated toward this rather contentious quote and this was a major subject in Butler's post-game press conference.
After the Heat's 99-90 win, Butler was asked if he had any ill will against the Sixers, the team that decided to let him walk away as a free agent (via sign-and-trade) back in 2019. His response was very telling:
“This is a business. It didn't work out. I'm not complaining. I love being in Miami,” Butler said, via Dan Gelston of the Associated Press
Jimmy Butler says no extra motivation beating the 76ers: "This is a business. It didn't work out. I'm not complaining. I love being in Miami."

Butler may be an emotional guy but the Heat star also understands how this game works. He may not have felt good about the Sixers letting him go but right now, he's in a better place. After all, it's the Heat who are moving on to the Eastern Conference Finals while the Sixers head to another early summer vacation.
For their part, the Sixers are also probably rueing their decision to pick Ben Simmons over Butler when they let him walk as a free agent some three years ago. That decision clearly did not age well.
