The Miami Heat made a huge splash early in free agency after securing a deal with All-Star point guard Kyle Lowry. With the now-former Toronto Raptors star on his way to South Beach, it looks like the Heat are still doing everything they can to reunite Lowry with his good buddy DeMar DeRozan.
According to Five Reasons Sports on Twitter, the Heat have not given up on the chase to bring in DeRozan to Miami:

DeRozan to the Heat (on a sign-and-trade, maybe?) makes a lot of sense. The four-time All-Star, whose current contract with the San Antonio Spurs has come to an end, could very well emerge as the number one scoring option for Miami, with guys like Jimmy Butler and Bad Adebayo (and now Kyle Lowry) being able to focus on the non-scoring aspect of the game. DeRozan is a walking bucket, and he could provide the firepower Miami needs to take it to the next level next season.
To be clear, though, these are all just rumors at this point. DeRozan himself has already indicated his desire to play in his hometown of Los Angeles, so both the Lakers and the Clippers could also make a move on the 31-year-old veteran. Then again, the opportunity to play in sunny Miami and the prospect of reuniting with his best friend in Kyle Lowry should certainly pique DeRozan's interest.
As for the Heat, this team is wasting no time in free agency. Apart from the Lowry blockbuster, Miami has reportedly signed Butler to a $184 million extension, while also splashing the cash on Duncan Robinson for $90 million.
Pat Riley clearly isn't messing around here.
