When NBA free agency kicked off last Friday, Hassan Whiteside and the Miami Heat didn't take long to agree on a deal. The young big man received a four-year max contract worth about $98 million.

However, Whiteside reportedly would've taken less if the Heat were able to acquire Kevin Durant. At the time, it wasn't known how much less he'd take.

According to Ira Winderman of the Sun-Sentinel, that number is $9 million, but apparently, Durant's not the only guy he would've done it for.

From Winderman:

Whiteside had been willing to forgo as much as $9 million for the Heat to both add Durant and re-sign Dwyane Wade, if such a package could be completed.

Of course, Durant ended up choosing the Golden State Warriors on the 4th of July, and on Wednesday Wade opted to leave the only franchise he'd ever played with for his hometown Chicago Bulls.

Reality hasn't quite set in yet for Heat fans and Whiteside now that D-Wade, the face of the organization, is gone.

Given the immense size of his contract, $9 million might not seem like much, but it's a significant chunk of change that most players wouldn't be willing to give up.
