Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo recently joined Nikos Varlas of eurohoops.net for a wide-ranging interview. Amid their discussion, the Greek Freak noted that he gets emotional when watching his MVP speech.

“I’ve tried to watch the video many times, as I see it everywhere,” Antetokounmpo told eurohoops.net. “I can’t watch it, because I get emotional again.”

Antetokounmpo was indeed emotional as he accepted this year's MVP award. He thanked his late father, who passed away in 2017 due to a heart attack, as well as his mother and brothers for helping him along his path to the NBA:

“Two years ago, I had the goal in my head that I'm going to be the best player in the league,” Atetokounmpo said during his MVP acceptance speech. “(I told myself) I'm going to do whatever it takes to help my team win, and I'm going to win the MVP.”

Antetokounmpo is deserving of his new title, to be sure. The 24-year-old star made 72 appearances with the Bucks last season (all starts), racking up averages of 27.7 points on 57.8 percent shooting from the field (25.6 percent from beyond the arc), 12.5 rebounds, 5.9 assists, 1.5 blocks and 1.3 steals in 32.9 minutes per outing.

Antetokounmpo, who is currently in Greece to promote his new signature shoe, led the Bucks to a 60-22 overall record this past season, which earned the team a No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference Playoffs. Unfortunately, though, Milwaukee was defeated by the Toronto Raptors in the conference finals, 4-2.
