Milwaukee Bucks head coach Mike Budenholzer has opted to let Ersan Ilyasova log in some minutes despite his significant slump. And the head coach explained exactly why he believes Ilyasova will power thru it.

The 31-year-old Ilyasova is currently on a six-game streak with 0 points. He has played a total of 49 minutes in this span but still hasn't found the shooting touch.

This would force most coaches to boot Ilyasova out of the lineup or maybe even send him to the G League so he can work on his game. But Budenholzer seems to have great confidence in Ilyasova. Sooner or later, he believes that his player will fight his way thru it.

“I think it’s more about what he’s done historically,” Budenholzer said, per Matt Velazquez of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, when asked why he continues to play Ilyasova. “He’s been a great player in this league. Just kind of got to fight your way through it, he’s got to fight his way through it.

“He’s not playing as much as he’d like, I’m sure, but he’s been a great player in this league for a long time. That’s kind of what you lean on.”

Besides, Ilyasova is not really known as an explosive scorer. Budenholzer relies on his ability to draw charges. He currently has 26 offensive fouls drawn — the most in the league.

Sooner or later, Ilyasova will return to form. It' just a matter of time.
