According to one rumor, while it has been mostly quiet, Dallas Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle is interested in the Milwaukee Bucks job opening.

For those unaware, Woelfel is a columnist for the Racine Journal Times.

Is the report true? Maybe. But Woefel phrased it less as a report and more of a thing he's just hearing. Heck, he even put the caveat of “if it's true” in his own discussion on the matter.

Of super random, but humorously fun asides: Here is Rick Carlisle talking about Larry Bird and Alec Peters in the same breath.

While it is initially hard to believe Carlisle would move on from the Mavericks, it is worth noting that not only has the team struggled the last few seasons, but a rebuild appears to be on its way. While Mark Cuban likely understands how solid of a coach he is, this could simply be a matter of fit and approach moving forward. That is, if it is the owner who decides to move on.

That same theory, though, can apply to Carlisle, especially if he realizes he would prefer to be with a roster closer to winning at the moment. Dallas appears to be a few seasons away to be on Milwaukee's level, plus the Mavericks play in the dreaded Western Conference.

All in all, this could be more smoke than there's fire. Other coaches have already, literally, interviewed for the job. Unless some jarring news creeps in to say something outlandish, it is unlikely this crazy move ever happens.
