The Milwaukee Bucks are searching for a new bench boss after getting eliminated from playoff contention in the first round. And if they are looking towards Rick Carlisle’s way, the Dallas Mavericks head coach wants them to know that he doesn’t want any part of that head coaching gig in Milwaukee, per Marc Stein of The New York Times.
Rick Carlisle just issued the following statement: “Rumors that I have interest in the Milwaukee Bucks' job are completely inaccurate. I work for Mark Cuban and the Dallas Mavericks.”
Carlisle just finished his 10th season as head coach of the Mavs, who completed the 2017-18 campaign with a poor 24-58 record. Despite the Mavs’ dismal showing over the last couple of seasons, Carlisle seemed determined in helping the team turn things around beginning next season.

The Mavs, meanwhile, have a lottery pick to spend in the upcoming NBA Draft a year after getting point guard Dennis Smith Jr., who showed a ton of promise in his rookie season.
Carlisle is the only head coach in Mavs history to lead the franchise to an NBA title when Dallas won it all in 2011 against LeBron James and the Miami Heat. He signed a five-year extension contract with the Mavs in 2015, and it appears that he remains happy with his job in Dallas despite the team’s recent flops.
