Spanish guard Ricky Rubio seems to be in trade rumors each season. The Minnesota Timberwolves guard is, once again, one of the centerpieces of all possible Wolves trades. The team is actively trying to improve their roster and all possible trade combinations that include the 7th pick and Rubio.

Rubio finished his sixth season with the Wolves after being selected with the fifth pick in the 2009 NBA Draft. He has been a very effective facilitator and a pest on defense, but Rubio has one glaring issue. He has not, since entering the league, improved his outside shooting. In the modern NBA, most guards have to be capable shooters and the fact that Rubio does not have a reliable shot is bringing down his trade value.

As such, Minnesota is finally ready to move on from Rubio. While his flashy passing and capable defense will be missed, Rubio does not seem to be a key piece in the long term plans for the Minneapolis-based franchise.

Rubio had career highs in points and assists this season, while also shooting the best percentage from the field of his career. However, that is still only around 40 percent, which is not good enough for a guard.

Teams that will most probably be contacted by the Wolves for possible trades are the Portland Trail Blazers, who are looking to move up in the draft, and the Chicago Bulls, whose star forward Jimmy Butler has been on Wolves' radar since last summer.
