Despite all of the trade rumors and distractions from media headlines, Ricky Rubio is busy making good use of his summer in Minnesota.

According to ESPN, the Timberwolves point guard has been busy planning and preparing to host a charity hoops game on September 24th in Minneapolis. The name of the charity is called “Rubio’s Hoop for Hope.”

The charity game is being put on in honor of his mother Tona Vives, who passed away in May after a long battle with cancer. Rubio’s charity will donate the proceeds of the event to A Breath of Hope Lung Foundation. The foundation funds research, raises awareness, educates, and supports patients with cancer.

Some of the players who will participate in the event are teammates Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins, as well as Ronny Turiaf, Kenneth Faried, and others to be announced later.
