For the last several weeks, the Minnesota Timberwolves have been working toward a five-year, $148 million extension with forward Andrew Wiggins.

However, things had recently reached a sudden halt with there being no activity on the front of getting a deal in place. According to Sam Amick of USA TODAY Sports, Wiggins voiced on Saturday that he's in no rush to have things hammered out.

“I’m just taking it day by day, you know?” Wiggins told USA TODAY Sports on Saturday. “There’s no rush to do it, yet. I’ve still got some time before the day before that first game.”

At this point in time, Wiggins is set to enter the final year of his rookie deal worth $7.5 million that also includes a $9.8 million qualifying offer that would have made him a restricted free agent next offseason. There doesn't seem to be much concern from the 22-year-old that it won't get done.

Andrew Wiggins is coming off his best individual campaign where he averaged a career-high 23.6 points per game while also further cementing himself as one of the core pieces of the team. Although there are concerns with his play defensively, he has developed into a reliable scorer that could prove to be a critical part of the revamped roster.

With the deadline fast-approaching, there could be some major movement on this front in the coming days.
