The Minnesota Timberwolves squandered control of the game in the middle of the third quarter against the L.A. Clippers and never got their groove back. As a result, the Timberwolves dropped their fourth consecutive contest.
Minnesota turned into a completely different team after their 3-1 start. Now, Anthony Edwards' patience is being tested, evidenced by his comments following his team's fifth loss in eight games.
“We have spurts of playing good, then we play bad and don’t pick it up.” Edwards said, via Chris Hine of the Star Tribune “It’s tough.”
Against the Clippers, the first overall pick of the Timberwolves in last year's draft scored 17 points on a horrendous 7-of-22 shooting from the field. He still contributed on the defensive end, registering two steals and three blocks.
Article Continues BelowWhen asked by Jace Frederick of the Pioneer Press about being the lone Timberwolves player who can get to the basket at will, Edwards couldn't hide his frustration.
“Yeah, if I ain’t going, then all the coaches looking at me like ‘Go to the rim!’ I’m like ‘I’m the only one going to the rim.’ I get it, man. I have fun with it. I don’t know, man.”
The Timberwolves hold the 11th spot in the Western Conference after Friday night's games. However, they also possess the second-longest losing streak in the league. Being a young team, the onus falls on veteran leaders Karl-Anthony Towns and, to some extent, Patrick Beverley if the Timberwolves are to right the ship before they dig themselves a deeper hole.
