Minnesota Timberwolves' new addition Derrick Rose is slated to sit out the next two games with a sprained right ankle, according to ESPN's Ian Begley.
Rose will sit out tonight against the New York Knicks, as well as tomorrow against the Philadelphia 76ers — two games the Timberwolves need in hopes to make their case for the highest seed in the Western Conference.
The former 2011 MVP is in a deep reserve role since joining the team and former coach Tom Thibodeau, getting only 11.6 minutes per game (by far the lowest of his career) and averaging 6.6 points and 1.6 assists in five games with the team.

Without him, expect starter Jeff Teague and backup Tyus Jones to get the bulk of the minutes at point guard between them.
This is another unfortunate development to the career of Rose. He has long been a shadow of his old dominant self and his recurring health issues have made it very difficult for him to latch on to a team after being immediately waived by the Utah Jazz following their trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
It should be noted that Rose took a leave of absence from his old Cavs team earlier in the season to re-assess his basketball career. He's only one year removed from averaging 18.0 points and 4.4 assists per game in his lone but surprisingly resurgent season with the New York Knicks.
