All-Star small forward Jimmy Butler has never wavered on his stance that he wants to be traded from the Minnesota Timberwolves, even after several attempts by head coach/president Tom Thibodeau to convince him to rejoin the team, according to Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic.

Butler requested a trade from the Timberwolves roughly three weeks ago and has been away from the team. Butler and his representatives have grown frustrated by how the Timberwolves have handled his trade request and are skeptical of whether the franchise is truly trying to find a deal, according to Sam Amick of The Athletic.

A four-time All-Star, Butler reportedly prefers to play for the Miami Heat and has come close to getting dealt there, but he also wouldn’t mind a deal to the Los Angeles Clippers, Brooklyn Nets or New York Knicks. The 29-year-old swingman will make $19.84 million this season and has a player option worth $19.84 million for the 2019-20 season. Butler is widely expected to decline that option so he can become an unrestricted free agent and earn more money on the open market.

Butler is not expected sit out any regular-season games, but he remains determined to leave Minnesota. There have been multiple reports claiming Butler doesn’t want to play with big man Karl-Anthony Towns and forward Andrew Wiggins anymore.

The Timberwolves open the 2018-19 regular-season on Oct. 17 against the San Antonio Spurs. If Minnesota doesn't trade Butler by then, he will likely be in uniform that night and that's going to be an awkward scene.
