Following an offseason of much upheaval on the roster, the Minnesota Timberwolves are off to a promising start to the season holding a 7-3 record through the first 10 games played.

This sudden success has brought into question the team's 13-year playoff drought that has clouded the franchise for more than a decade. According to John Meyer of Canishoopus, All-Star forward Jimmy Butler had a clear message for what he wants to accomplish in his first campaign in Minnesota.

This mentality led by Butler has helped the Timberwolves quickly rise up the standings as one of the potential powerhouse teams in the league. He leads a roster full of young talent with arguably best young center in the league in Karl-Anthony Towns along with rising star forward Andrew Wiggins and former All-Star point guard Jeff Teague.

Minnesota also acquired proven veterans to the mix such as three-time Sixth Man of the Year Jamal Crawford and big man Taj Gibson. All of these moves under head coach Tom Thibodeau have quickly paid huge dividents to the team as evident through the early-season success.

However, the benchmark for them to take that next step toward an NBA title will be to see how they perform against the likes of the Golden State Warriors, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Boston Celtics. If the Timberwovles are able to hold their own, things could get quite interesting in Minnesota this season come playoff time.
