It has been a tough year for most people, with 2020 filled with more than a few awful and unexpected haymakers. There's no denying, however, that it has been much tougher for Minnesota Timberwolves superstar Karl-Anthony Towns, who lost his mother to COVID-19 complications back in April.
Towns recently took to social media to send a heartfelt message of thanks for everyone who has been supporting him throughout his ordeal:
KAT posted a message to his IG story thanking supporters for supporting him throughout this year.
He will be posting a video tomorrow “that was very difficult to shoot but felt you the fans and everyone who supports me deserved.”
Continued thoughts are w/ him + his family. 🙏🏻 pic.twitter.com/aAhqHuSMUb

As the Timberwolves star indicated in his post above, he's going to be sharing a video — presumably on his Instagram account as well — which will likely have something to do with his struggles over the past year. The pandemic has hit all of us hard, but losing one's own mother is especially tough. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with Towns and the rest of his family in these trying times.
Article Continues BelowTowns also dealt with the fallout of George Floyd's murder by Minneapolis police. The star big man attended protests and has made his voice heard in the fight for social justice.
As for his basketball, Towns and the Timberwolves are hoping to take a step forward after a rough 2019-20 season. The arrival of D'Angelo Russell has provided Towns with the opportunity to play with not only a star point guard, but also a very good friend of his. They weren't able to get too many games in last season prior to the league-wide suspension, so they should be raring to go for the 2020-21 campaign.
The Timberwolves might be active in the offseason as well, and a few more added pieces might just allow this side to make a run for the playoffs next term.
