Minnesota Timberwolves guard Patrick Beverley isn't getting suspended for his outburst on a referee last Sunday, but the NBA is handing him a costly fine for his behavior.
Hours before the Timberwolves take on the Los Angeles Clippers for their play-in showdown, the NBA fined Beverley $25,000 for what was deemed as “improper conduct” towards a game official.
To recall, Beverley kept calling the referee trash after he was assessed his second technical foul and thrown out of the game against the Chicago Bulls. The veteran guard seemed to have some words with the official after his drive to the rim, which resulted to the technical and the eventual ejection.

Of course the fine was expected given how the NBA has been strict in imposing such sanctions on improper conducts toward referees. Luckily for Patrick Beverley and the Timberwolves, it's only a fine that he got and not a suspension.
There were initial concerns it could lead to that given that Beverley was still aggressive towards the referee after he was ejected.
Now that the issue is resolved and a punishment is made, Beverley and the rest of the Timberwolves can now focus at the task at hand in their bid to secure a playoff spot. The winner of their play-in showdown with the Clippers gets the 7th seed in the West, while the loser will have another game (either against the New Orleans Pelicans or San Antonio Spurs) for a last shot at a postseason berth.
