Minnesota Timberwolves small forward Robert Covington says when he sees a teammate of his mess up, he won't be afraid to tell them that they are messing up.

The Timberwolves acquired Covington, Dario Saric, Jerryd Bayless and a 2022 second-round pick from the Philadelphia 76ers in the Jimmy Butler trade. The 3-and-D specialist says guys held each other accountable in Philadelphia and he wants that to happen in Minnesota as well.

“You have to tell ’em,” Covington said, via Dane Moore of Zone Coverage. “You can’t sugar coat things. That’s one thing we had back in Philly and the same thing I’m bringing here. Tell guys if they fu**in’ up that they fu**in’ up.”

In six games with the Timberwolves, Robert Covington is averaging 11.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. The 27-year-old is shooting 35.8 percent from the field, 36.4 percent from beyond the arc and 71.4 percent from the free-throw line.

Covington is by far Minnesota's best perimeter defender. Defense is an area in which Timberwolves star big man Karl-Anthony Towns has struggled in. Towns and Covington are good friends off the court, but that is not going to stop Covington from telling the All-Star center to play better defense and pick up his energy if he's struggling.

The Timberwolves are 5-2 since the Jimmy Butler trade. They will look to improve to 6-2 on Monday when they take on the Cleveland Cavaliers.
