The Minnesota Timberwolves chose to fire former head coach Tom Thibodeau on Sunday following the team's 108-86 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers, which may have been a little surprising considering the big win.
However, it probably isn't all that shocking due to the up and down relationship between the two parties, and now the Timberwolves front office will turn its attention to finding his replacement.
One potential candidate that has been mentioned is former Chicago Bulls head coach Fred Hoiberg, but it sounds like he wouldn't be able to take over multiple jobs with the franchise, according to ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski.
As @KCJHoop reports, Hoiberg's preference is to remain in the NBA over college basketball — regardless of UCLA's interest. Ultimately, Hoiberg could have his choice of jobs with the Timberwolves. Not both, though. Minnesota wants to separate front office and coaching duties.

This is certainly going to be a crucial hire for the Timberwolves, as they now enter another coaching search in hopes of finally helping the franchise turn the corner.
Minnesota currently sits at 19-21 on the season after the win over the Lakers, which was the second straight following last Friday's victory over the Orlando Magic.
Now, the Timberwolves will turn their attention towards a road game against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday before returning to Target Center for back-to-back games against the Dallas Mavericks and New Orleans Pelicans.
Of course, while the on-court action should be entertaining, there's no doubt that Minnesota fans will be focusing on the search for a new coach after Thibodeau's firing.
