Lonzo Ball is entering the draft as one of the more highly-touted prospects in recent years. But no thanks to his father’s desperate attempts to catch attention, much of the spotlight has been hogged by LaVar Ball.
The former UCLA standout finds himself in a unique situation wherein his father is part of almost every pre-draft report. Teams are wary of LaVar Ball’s potential influence on his son when he turns pro, and there’s no denying that he is in no way helping Lonzo in preparation for the biggest night of his life thus far.
A fellow draft hopeful and former Bruin teammate of Lonzo Ball in Bryce Alford chimed in on the LaVar Ball dilemma, emphasizing one of its negative effects on the sure-fire lottery pick.

Lonzo Ball is known to be quite the opposite of his old man. The soft-spoken floor general lets his game do the talking, and it has done nothing but wonders for him and his teammates.
While Bryce Alford’s father in UCLA coach Steve Alford has already stated that the elder Ball wasn’t a distraction for him during his handling of Lonzo, the NBA environment offers a lot more different variables and one that is a very interesting scenario is if and when Lonzo Ball gets drafted by a team other than the Los Angeles Lakers.
On a side note, there is that one time when LaVar Ball took a subtle shot at Bryce Alford after UCLA’s exit in the NCAA tournament.
