The Boston Celtics suffered their third loss to the Milwaukee Bucks yesterday, and are now down 3-1 in their Eastern Conference semifinals series against the best team in the NBA. As the Celtics look for answers on how to stop the Bucks, Skip Bayless thinks things start and end with Kyrie Irving.

Speaking during the latest episode of Undisputed, Bayless discussed Irving’s leadership ability, and how he thinks that Irving is simply a poor leader. Of course, Irving has come under a lot of scrutiny during this series, as his extremely poor play has been one of the leading factors for why the Celtics are currently one game away from elimination.

According to Bayless, the reason the Celtics are playing so poorly has to do with Irving, and his inability to lead the rest of his teammates thanks to the constant criticism he’s had for teammates. Earlier in the season, Irving infamously spoke about how the team needed to be better, especially some of the other players on the Celtics.

Unfortunately for Irving, this series has mostly shone a light on how poorly he has played recently. After yesterday’s Game 4, Irving is now shooting 19-62 in his last three games, and has seemingly gone cold at the worst time. While there’s still time to recover for the Celtics, history doesn’t usually favor teams that are down 3-1 in a playoff series.

With the Bucks finally gaining steam and Giannis Antetokounmpo beginning to play like the potential MVP that he was all season, it’ll be difficult for the Celtics to do much if Irving isn’t himself.
