At this point, it would be safe to say that the recently-concluded All-Star Game was a smashing success. The new format worked to perfection, bringing out the right amount of competitiveness from the participants — something that we have all been longing for for years now.
As it turns out, it wasn't only the fans that were delighted by what was truly an awesome spectacle. The players themselves seemed to have also enjoyed the ballgame, including those that like the rest of us, witnessed the contest from the comfort of their own homes.
Oklahoma City Thunder swingman Andre Roberson loved the new format and suggested that the league should seriously think about keeping it this way.
That was a dope game!!! 🙌🏽🙌🏽 Gotta keep that format!! Love it! ✊🏽❤️

Mario Hezonja of the Portland Trail Blazers echoed Roberson's sentiments, but could not help but take a shot at Dwyane Wade and his involvement in Saturday night's Dunk Contest controversy.
GREAT CHANGE and additions to all 3 events! If D Wade didn’t ruin it, it would be 10/10 😜

For guys like Boston Celtics legend Paul Pierce and Memphis Grizzlies rising star Jaren Jackson Jr., it was all about showing their love and appreciation for the tremendous show they had just witnessed.

One of the best All Star weekend I’ve ever seen. Very competitive all week end long. Great job @NBA

Despite all the praise, however, there were still some who were critical with the contest, specifically with how the game ended. Both Allonzo Trier of the New York Knicks and Jason Richardson did not seem to like how the matchup was decided by an Anthony Davis free throw.
These dudes was bumping! But wack ending to the game, walked both teams to the line for the game. We wanted to see dudes go get one when it’s that time! Walk off should have to be a bucket!

I’m sleep that the game ended on a free throw 😂 U gotta check that up G

They do have a point, though, and perhaps the league will look into this small matter in an attempt to further improve what was an historic success. Kudos to commissioner Adam Silver and company for a job well done.
