NBA commissioner Adam Silver has certainly been busy in recent weeks. With the 2018-19 season coming to a close and the offseason nearly underway, Silver has had a pretty frequent media presence, including appearances on ESPN's “Get Up!” and AP Basketball Writer Tim Reynolds' PodcastOne Sports Now.

Silver told Reynolds on the latest episode that he has already spoken with presumptive no. 1 overall pick Zion Williamson about not taking for granted the many experiences that he will have as he prepares to enter the NBA. Silver also mentioned that he feels recently hired New Orleans Pelicans president David Griffin is the right guy to build on the franchise.

Williamson's impending relationship with the Pelicans (who own the no. 1 pick) was already coming into question due in part to the uncertainty surrounding Anthony Davis' future with the franchise in addition to Williamson refraining from hiring an agent.

But Williamson signed with Creative Artists Agency (CAA) on Thursday morning and will be represented by CAA basketball agent Austin Brown as well as CAA executive Lisa Joseph-Metelus, making his entry into the NBA Draft official.

During his appearance on “Get Up!” Silver was asked about top high school prospect R.J. Hampton's decision to play professionally in Australia rather than attend college, and whether or not that would detract from his visibility and marketability with NBA executives. Silver responded by citing that Zion in particular was a social media sensation well before he arrived at Duke:

The next step for Williamson will be to secure what could be a record-breaking shoe contract. He is likely to receive offers from all the major brands, including Nike and Adidas.
