NBPA exec Michele Roberts heard “40-50%” of the NBA population could test positive for the coronavirus.

Thus far, Utah Jazz All-Stars Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell, Detroit Pistons big man Christian Wood and Brooklyn Nets superstar Kevin Durant have the virus.

Three other Nets players have it, too, but they are not named since the NBA nor the Nets are obligated to share that information:

“A whole lot of us are going to test positive,” Roberts told Mark Medina of USA TODAY Sports. “Even if we aren’t positive, we got the virus. I don’t intend to disclose identities because there’s a stigma attached to that. But I certainly know there will be more players, more league staff and my own staff [that will be tested positive]. I was hearing the numbers that 40 to 50% of our population will be positive for the virus, whether or not we test for it.”

Durant and Mitchell have said they are asymptomatic. The NBA suspended play last week after Gobert's test results became known. The two-time reigning NBA Defensive Player of the Year also apologized for his actions after jokingly touching reporters' mics before contracting the infectious disease.

Roberts is unfortunately going to be right. Fans are likely going to see more positive tests in the NBA since the virus spreads so deceptively and can hit people without them even knowing because they feel fine.

Hopefully, if more NBA players or coaches get it, they are asymptomatic. Owners are trying to resume the NBA in June or July.
