Team USA narrowly escaped with a 93-92 overtime win over Turkey in Tuesday's FIBA World Cup matchup. It was a poor showing from the American side, and head coach Gregg Popovich knows his team will need to be better going forward.

“It was a heck of a game as we all know,” Popovich said. “It was anybody’s game. We will accept the win but it was anybody’s to win. The team that we played tonight showed its experience and the improvement that we have to make execution-wise. We are not there yet. We are still trying to get better at that.”

Team USA finished Tuesday's matchup with a 35 percent mark from the field (78 percent from the free-throw line). Khris Middleton led the team with 15 points, followed by Kemba Walker, who scored 14 points, seven assists and six rebounds.

Though they managed to defeat Turkey in Tuesday's game, Team USA may have lost one of its best players. In the final three seconds of overtime, Celtics forward Jayson Tatum rolled his ankle while dishing off a pass to Middleton for a game-winning layup attempt. Initial reports indicate that Tatum's injury isn't serious, but the American side will likely err on the side of caution with regards to his recovery.

Team USA will be back in action on Thursday, as they're scheduled for a matchup against Japan at 8:30 a.m. ET.
